Our staff are reaching new heights for The Myton Hospices!

Some of our incredible team members are quite literally going above and beyond to raise vital funds for The Myton Hospices!

Nicola Hughes, one of our amazing Myton at Home nurses, recently took part in our March Skydive weekend alongside her daughter, Poppy, to support Myton. Nicola said:

I turn 50 this year and wanted to tick a skydive off my bucket list! We both had an amazing time. Poppy definitely wants to do it again, and I must say, I think I would too! The freefall made me feel alive, and when the parachute opened it was just fantastic!

Next up, Volunteer Coordinator Faith Costley, is gearing up for our April Skydive.

The Myton Hospices - Faith Costley

Faith isn’t new to daredevil fundraising. Last year, she braved our Abseil down Coventry Cathedral, and as soon as she touched solid ground, she knew she wanted to set herself another daring challenge. This time, she’s taking to the skies! Faith said:

I knew I had to do something even more scary to encourage even more donations for my next challenge. A skydive has always been on my bucket list, so this felt like the perfect opportunity.

Working at Myton, both Nicola and Faith have a personal understanding of how the money raised supports our patients and their families. Faith works closely with our volunteers on our Warwick Inpatient Unit, and sees first-hand the difference fundraising makes. She added:

I spend a lot of time on our Inpatient Units and see exactly how donations help. The care, the support, and the special environment we create for patients and their families – it’s truly one of a kind. If I can play a small part in making that possible, it’s worth it.

As a Myton at Home nurse, Nicola provides care and support to our patients and their families. She commented:

I work for Myton at Home in Rugby and see every day how much we rely on fundraising. It’s a privilege to support families at such a private and emotional time, enabling their loved one to remain at home. I’m proud to work for Myton and proud of the job I do.

Faith has set herself a fundraising goal of £1,000.

Faith continued:

People think I’m mad for doing this, and honestly, I’m starting to agree! But working at Myton really makes you appreciate life. My mother-in-law passed away at just 49, and as I approach that age myself, I realise more than ever how precious time is. I’m not getting any younger, so it’s now or never! Life is for living, and I want to experience everything it has to offer.

We’re incredibly proud of Nicola for facing her fears, and we’re all cheering Faith on as she prepares for her jump.

Did you know…? We are a charity, we are not the NHS, and we have to raise £12.7 million of the £15.3 million it costs to continue providing our services free of charge to our patients and their loved ones.
